Melanie Chirignan, Flutist

I'm a NY based classical flutist, and I also play piccolo and alto flute.  I'm available for solo and chamber group recitals, orchestra work, new music, weddings, etc. I enjoy working with new composers, and performing and recording new music.

In recent news, I am thrilled to announce that I was awarded the Saratoga Community Arts grant, and I will do two “Color and Sound” performances of partially improvised music at the Saratoga Senior Center with pianist Melinda Faylor on July 28th and on Sept. 29th as a trio with the wonderful cellist Laura Melnicoff! Artist Mercedes Soriano will capture her creative process of creating art while listening to our compositions by filming her artwork and time lapsing it. We will present the video as we perfrom live!

I was also awarded two grants from the Arts Center of the Captial Region to record partially improvised compositions to create an EP, and to have a couple of EP release parties at the Ten Broech Mansion and the Albany Institute of History and Art. It’s an exciting Summer/Fall, I hope you can join us. Check out the calendar to learn more!
